Tokyo, Japan, June 19 – Space Walker conducted static load testing of the winged test rocket structure, which is planned for launch in 2026.
The winged test rocket and the static load test
Space Walker is developing a winged test rocket (WIRES#015) to demonstrate navigation guidance and control, composite propellant tank, and methane engine capabilities to equip the suborbital spaceplane, which is currently under development.

Summary of Static Load Test
Static load test for the central fuselage of the winged test rocket
Test period: April 21st through 30th, 2025
Test site: Premises within the factory compound of Toray Carbon Magic
Test results: Verified the strength and load-bearing performance of the central fuselage
Division in charge:
Dr. Koichi Yonemoto, CTO, SPACE WALKER
Structure team, Space Transportation Division, SPACE WALKER
Cooperating companies and institutes:
Toray Carbon Magic Co., Ltd.,
Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Science
Further Development
Based on the results of this test, we will continue to carry out static load testing of the winged test rocket structure on the main wings and rear fuselage with the tail, to support the completion of the winged test rocket. In parallel to the structure development, our engineering team will advance various other developments, such as rating tests related to the recovery systems, tanks, navigation and guidance control systems, followed by the engine, piping, electrical equipment, and final assembly towards the flight test of the winged test rocket.
